Current Strategy and Budget Breakdown
Agency Partners
We work with three agency partners. In November 2025, we hosted a public meeting to introduce these agencies and their work to locals. You can watch the meeting here. Our partners are:
- Madden Media (advertising/paid media)
- Campstories (public relations/earned media)
- and Camp4/Tourist (branding and strategy/owned)
Owned Media
We also maintain the visitor-facing website, DiscoverMoab.com, and Instagram and Facebook pages @DiscoverMoab.
Budget Breakdown
The Moab Office of Tourism is funded entirely by promotional transient room tax (TRT) revenue. Everything the office does must be "for the purpose of establishing and promoting: tourism; recreation; film productions; or conventions" (HB456, subsection 3a).
In 2026, Grand County is projected to bring in roughly $8M of TRT revenue. $4.6M of that revenue will fund the Moab Office of Tourism and the Moab to Monument Valley Film Commission.
You can view the 2026 budget, passed by the Grand County Commission on December 16, 2025, on page 15 of this document (Fund 23). You can watch the MOT's Budget Advisory Committee meeting, where the budget is broken out line by line, on Grand County's Youtube channel.
The 2026 budget includes:
- $547,058 for overhead costs, including staff salaries and administrative services
- $88,656 for travel, including attending travel shows
- $28,033 for familiarization trips
- $2,128,998 for advertising paid media, including placing advertisements through Madden Media and renting billboards
- $173,260 for advertising earned media, reflecting the investment made into public relations
- $692,413 for creative services, including the branding/strategy project with Camp4 and owned projects like the Moab Gravel Adventure Field Guide
If you have specific questions about the budget, ad placements, projects, or public relations strategies, you can always reach out to Mick Soleta and Alison Harford.
